Suara 1946 - this picture was sent to me by Lt. John Goldberg who was Officer in Charge of a group of Naval Radio Mechanics (Special Branch RNVR).

His group were responsible for the re-building of Suara W/T in 1945/46. The civil engineering work, e.g. erection of huts, construction of mast bases etc was done by Royal Marine Engineers with Japanese POWs doing the labouring. John's party assembled the transmitters and did the electrical work, ran up and tested the transmitters etc. The installation was in prefab huts. Suara was rebuild some time later. (Anyone with pictures and information about the new building is free to contact me!)

The demolished central site can be seen in the bottom right hand corner. The new 180ft aerail masts can also be seen.
