Suara 1946 - Erecting the 110ft masts

"One of the 110ft towers for the rhombics under construction. The base is ready to receive its load of concrete. Royal Marine Engineers supervising Japanese Navy POWS assembling the woodwork on the ground. When complete the structure was raised to the vertical by the use of shearlegs and a great
deal of motorised pulling power.

I can't remember whether this method of erection was used on all the other seven 110ft towers. I think some were assembled by the more conventional way from the ground up, piece by piece.

One of the rhombics was beamed to Belconnen in Australia, the other tothe UK.
